Move-In / Move-Out Cleaning Checklist for Florida Renters
Getting your security deposit back — or handing over a spotless home to the next tenant — comes down to a handful of areas landlords and new owners check first. Here's what to cover.
Kitchen
Inside the oven, fridge, and cabinets (not just the exteriors), behind and under the stove, range hood filter, and any built-up grease on cabinet fronts near the stove.
Bathrooms
Grout lines, the underside of the toilet rim, inside cabinets and drawers, and the exhaust fan — Florida's humidity makes mildew show up in bathroom fans faster than most renters expect.
Floors and baseboards
A full move-out clean means every baseboard, not just visible floor space — landlords and new-owner walkthroughs check corners and baseboards specifically because they're the first thing skipped in a rushed clean.
Windows and tracks
Interior glass plus the window tracks, where Florida's sandy dust and pollen build up fast, especially near sliding doors to a lanai or patio.
Closets and storage
Shelves wiped down, any lingering odor addressed (a musty closet is one of the most common move-out deduction reasons in Florida's humidity), and all hangers/debris cleared.
Walls and light switches
Scuff marks near doorways, fingerprints around light switches, and any nail holes patched (patching itself is usually the landlord's job, but the wall should be clean around them).
Outdoor-adjacent areas
Lanai or patio floors, garage floor if included in the lease terms, and any exterior door glass.
Plan it as its own booking
A full move-in/move-out clean typically takes longer than a standard recurring visit because it covers areas a normal weekly clean skips entirely — plan for it as its own booking rather than tacking it onto a regular schedule. Get move-out pricing gives you a same-day quote based on your home's size and condition.
